I forgot to mention that Ry scored 2 of the 4 goals in his game yesterday!  We are so proud of our little athlete!

Fall Family Fun Day - 2011

Last Saturday we had our annual Fall Family Fun Day or the triple FD as we like to call it.  We started the day out with a visit to the pumpkin patch for hayrides, mazes, pumpkin picking and lots of pictures.  Then we headed over to Tyler and Leah's for the real fun!  Witch's brew, cookie decorating, Halloween bingo and a Ghost Hunt.  Ry absolutely loved the Ghost Hunt and wanted to do it again as soon as he dug up his treasure!  Here are some pictures from our day of fun!

Ry's current obsession...Star Wars...I'm hoping this will pass quickly.

Sadie was sad to miss the pumpkin patch, but was excited to jump on the hay bale for the front yard pumpkin display!

Halloween Bingo!  Ry's marker of choice is candy corn.

Dallas Stars Season Opener

It was a great game! There were tons of broken sticks, a Blackhawk's head went through the glass, Ryland trash-talked the Chicago fans sitting next to us, the Blackhawk's pulled their goalie (Ry's favorite) and an awesome time was had by all!

Best part? The Stars won!!!

First Grade...off to a great start!

Ryland brought home his report card for the first 6 weeks today.  I opened it, not really knowing what it would say, but hoping it wasn't too bad.  I pulled out the stack of papers and out falls an "A" Honor Roll ribbon.  Are you kidding me?  I was tearing up and showing Ry the ribbon.  "You made the Honor Roll!  Great Job!  I'm so proud of you!"  And he just stands there looking at me.  He has no clue what an Honor Roll is, what it means, how he got there, etc.  My crying slightly threw him off momentarily...was I mad, happy, sad???  He didn't know.  After I explained what it was, Ry was very excited!

I get that it's 1st grade.  I get that it's the first 6 weeks and just a review of last year.  BUT, most of you know what we went through last year in deciding on whether or not to send him to 1st grade.  So anyway...this is a HUGE deal for us!  Go Ryland!  We are so proud of you!

PS - Where do we get the bumper sticker???

Whistle? Where have you been my whole life?

I recently purchased a whistle to aid in my goal of improving Ry's soccer skills at home. I used it for the first time the other night and WHOA. I had forgotten the power of a whistle. I'm hooked. I may even start wearing it to the office.
